In my bag

CAMERA BODY

NIKON Z7: A long time ago, I chose a Nikon camera body (DX format) because we had several cameras and lenses in the family and I was able to try them all and find which lens is best for me. When I switched to a full frame camera, I stayed with Nikon. I didn’t need to learn the new controls, which speeded up the transition.

The body itself is lighter than the previous DSLR and at the same time offers a lot of functions and features that the previous camera did not have. One of the many advantages is the electronic viewfinder, which can display more information or, for example, make it easier to check photos in direct sunlight, where is nothing visible on the display. I could go on, but the internet is full of reviews.

LENSES

NIKON Z 24-70 f/4 S: For kit lens, this one is great! Images comes out incredibly sharp. I bring this one, along with 14-30mm on every trip.

NIKON Z 14-30 f/4 S: A wide-angle lens is essential for landscapes. It also allow to make things “bigger ” when lens close enough or capture very wide scene.

DRONE

DJI MAVIC MINI: Small and lightweight drone. Image quality is incredible if you consider size and price. It’s fun to make pictures or videos from different perspective than usually. Only negative is JPEG only output when we talk about pictures which limits post-processing.

ACCESSORIES

NISI SQUARE FILTERS: I choose square filter system because it allows move graduated filter as I need. At the end I found I use graduated filter less and less, but there still are situation I think is good to use graduated filter.

SONY XQD 64GB: Every camera needs memory card and this one i’ve got together with my camera. In future instead of XQD I’m considering use CF-EXPRESS B which is also accepted by my camera.

TRIPOD

MATTON W254C + BH10: A tripod is essential for long exposure photography. This one I bought in one small shop in Taipei. It’s strong enough and still relative lightweight. Of course market is full of stronger or lighter tripods, but for now this one serve well to my needs.

JOBBY GORILAPOD: Probably everyone knows small but very versatile tripods from Jobby. With a gorillapod, any stable branch, traffic sign or even a railing turns into a tripod.

COMPUTER AND accessories

MACBOOK PRO 14”: My most recent investment. When I bought new camera, my former laptop became too slow when edit pictures and lately screen got some blue areas which pushed me to buy new one. Now I hope new laptop last at least next 5 years.

IPAD AIR(4): Sometimes I use my wife’s iPad as a second screen or together with pencil instead of Wacom tablet, especially on the way.

Wacom Intuos S: Incredible helper for photo editing. It need some time to get used to, but work with pen is more intuitive than with mouse especially for masking with brushes.

Software: For developing and sorting pictures I use well known Lightroom, together with Luminar Neo.

BACKPACK

Shomodadesigns ActionX 50L: I looked for perfect backpack for long time but nothing is perfect. Different situation needs something little different. For most of my weekend trips I take this backpack as first choice. Thanks to removable/interchangeable core its very versatile backpack.

I WISH I HAD

In future I’d like to add gear into my collection such as telephoto lens, most probably Nikkor Z 100-400mm, and 4K or 5K display on the desk.
